ABOUT US
mabuhay, we’re varraco roasting.
OUR MISSION
Varraco is inspired by the Spanish word for “wild boar,” and the Tagalog barako from the Philippines — a nod to the bold spirit and strong character of both the animal and the coffee we roast. Like the wild boar, our coffee is unrelenting, full of strength, and ready to deliver a kick. But our journey doesn’t stop in the Philippines. We scour the world to discover the most rare and remarkable coffee beans — curated with care and grown by local farmers who have nurtured these crops for generations. Every origin has a story, and every bean carries the depth of its land.Sip slowly, and discover a vibrant, tropical depth that redefines what coffee can be. At Varraco, we bring you an unforgettable specialty coffee experience, celebrating both our roots and the global tapestry of extraordinary coffee.
Our team // mag-anak
Our pursuit for specialty coffee began at the start of our cycling days. One of our partners, who grew up in Lipa Batangas, would bring barako coffee for us after his visits back home to the Philippines. Barako, also known as Liberica coffee, was a staple for all of us growing up. We fell in love with it for its strong yet smooth taste. We had to learn more about how we could share this incredible gift with our cycling community and beyond.
After opening The Bike Shop Coachella Valley, we were inspired to build a café for cyclists to come together and hang out. Here, we could finally introduce others to specialty coffee from the Philippines and other regions around the world—our little taste of home.
Our mission is to support small coffee farmers by making their beloved coffee known worldwide, while sharing the power of community with every sip. We aspire to honor this historic, rare coffee by making it accessible to everyone, and to celebrate the work of our producer partners. Varraco Roasting hopes to make coffee from the Philippines, Southeast Asia and all of our partner farms an acclaimed specialty, and a regular option at home and at the café level. We intend to do this in an environmentally sustainable way, and to minimize our impact on the planet while delivering exceptional specialty coffee.
